Here at KSL we offer certified Kickstart training. We are currently working in collaboration with a London council as well as numerous businessess to support young people embarking on the Kickstart programme.

What is Kickstart?

The Kickstart Scheme provides funding to employers to create job placements for 16 to 24 year olds on Universal Credit.

The Kickstart Scheme provides funding to create new job placements for 16 to 24 year olds on Universal Credit who are at risk of long term unemployment. Employers of all sizes can apply for funding which covers:

Employers can spread the start date of the job placements up until the end of December 2021.

Further funding is available for training and support so that young people on the scheme can get a job in the future.

Tell me more...

The Kickstart Scheme is a £2 billion fund to create hundreds of thousands of high quality 6-month job placements for young people.

It was announced on the 8th July after the Chancellor announced the Kickstart Scheme as part of the Plan for Jobs. Funding available for each job placement will cover the relevant National Minimum Wage for 25 hours a week, plus the associated employer National Insurance contributions and employer minimum automatic enrolment contributions.

There will also be funding available to support young people to develop new skills and to help them move into sustained employment after they have completed their Kickstart funded job.

Through the scheme, you’ll be able to access a large pool of young people with potential, ready for an opportunity.

The government will initially prioritise young people aged between 16 and 24 who are ready for an opportunity and will be supported by their Jobcentre Plus work coach to enrol in the scheme.

Where does K Squared LDN fit into all of this?

All employers who sign up to the Kickstart scheme are given a budget of £1,500 per young person that they employ to train the young person before they start work.

As specialists in training young people, we at KSL have devised a 6 month programme that last the duration of the young person's work placement. Our Kickstart training programme combines our expertise in supporting young people entering the workplace with our insider knowledge of the needs of businesses and the corporate world.

KSL Kickstart training is split into 2 phases:

  • Phase 1: 3-day intensive ‘ready for work’ training

  • Phase 2: 6-month NLP and continuous development

Our training is split into a 3-day intensive pre-work training followed by monthly group NLP sessions that are coupled with weekly individual phone calls to ensure that the young person is ready for their placement but most importantly is adequately supported to complete their placement.

We understand that as an employer, it is not always possible to support, develop and up-skill staff - that is where we come in.
